Food facility in Oas, Albay begins production of complementary products developed by DOST-FNRI
The Local Government Unit (LGU) - Oas, Albay is now producing the Food and Nutrition Research Insitute (DOST-FNRI) developed complementary food products as a science-based intervention to address malnutrition in Filipino children. The complementary food facility, dubbed as the “Oas Nutrition Enterprise” (ONE), is a collaborative project with DOST V and EDUCO to provide the food items needed to address the RENI of children up to five years of age.
On 21 September 2022, DOST V conducted an on-site Training on Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure that the facility produces consistently high-quality and nutritious products such as the rice-mongo-sesame blend and rice-mongo curls.
As the sole producer of complementary food products in the province of Albay, the municipality of Oas can lead the advocacy for better nutrition among implementers and campaigners among government institutions, other LGUs, the private sector, and NGOs.
