With the objective of strengthening the bond and partnership between and among the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region V and the Science and Technology (S&T) service institutes in the region, DOST V organized the three-day activity for “Enhancing S&T Partnership and Advocacy through the Gender and Development Program” and highlighted the 2015 DOST V Family Sportsfest. This was held on 24-25 November 2015 at DOST V Compound, Regional Center Site, Rawis, Legazpi City for most of the sports competitions; Southern Luzon Naval Forces, also in the Regional Center Site for the basketball games and Albay Badminton Center (ABC), Bonot, Legazpi City for the badminton events.
Dir. Tomas B. Briñas, Regional Director, DOST V, delivered the opening message emphasizing on such activity that does not only allow personnel and their sister agencies/partners to get to know each other but also promotes camaraderie and stronger ties towards delivering world-class S&T services to the Bicolanos. Also, aside from the fact that there is S&T in Sports; strength, stamina and endurance go with it, the more we need to nourish and nurture the working relationship in the DOST system.
This year’s active participants/guests are from DOST V, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO), and the Philippine Science High School - Bicol Region Campus (PSHS-BRC). Dir. Briñas commended all participants and personnel behind the conduct of this GAD activity. The sports event was not only meant to declare winners but for all participants having played their best and enjoyed the bonding moment of DOST employees in the region.
